The perfect environment – Mazingira kamili (The Questions)
Humans learnt a very long time ago, that when we lived in groups, we were more likely to survive the unforgiving natural world; viruses aside. As a group, not only do our chances of surviving an attack from other animals increase, but we can also share labor, and build amazing communities.
And we have become very good at it, or so we think.
If I at any point use the word ‘utopia’ in this blog, please understand that I am talking about infrastructure. I don’t believe that humans are evolved enough to live in communities with no conflict. In fact, I don’t even think it’s healthy to live without conflict (in this case conflict meaning difference of opinion or perspective, and not necessarily a physical fight). I believe the more mature people, understand how to live with differences of opinion peacefully, they know that having room/space for grievances to be heard is a healthy way to live.
Back to the topic of discussion. I’d like to start with how the perfect environments have been stifled by corporate profits and planned obsolescence. I say this because I refuse to believe that man is unable to develop sustainable, long lasting technology that people would only need to buy once. I’m talking about living without constantly polluting and degrading the world we live in.
Please don’t regurgitate that narrative about how impossible something is to do. Or the narrative about how we need to constantly upgrade by buying new; I still don’t know why people buy new iPhones every year
As far as I’m concerned this is one of the best ploys to keep us reaching. I know it makes us feel some kind of way to have that new thing, but we don’t need to consume so recklessly.
Side note, does living in the city make us forget how amazing it feels to live out in nature? Maybe not in Singapore.
How many of us who think about building corporations, think of putting up the very best of environmentally friendly infrastructure? Or better yet how many who think of building their own homes think green technology?.
It surprises me that we don’t teach children how to grow their own food in school. I mean, what could possibly be more important than teaching the next generation basic survival skills? You may think it pointless to teach city-kids how to farm because there’s very little agricultural land just laying around, but that only goes to show how little you know about modern technology and how it can truly liberate you.
These days, we have soilless farming techniques such as hydroponic and aquaponics which can be done anywhere. And in this day of the internet of things, you don’t even have to physically be there to ensure things move smoothly.
How many of you have heard of The Venus project by Jacque Fresco? Much of this blog is inspired by him.
Like I was saying, planned obsolescence forces people into a mindset of ‘I can’t stop to rest, because I need to get the next thing’. This means, we never stop to wonder about the way we move through time. I refuse to believe that keeping up to date with the latest tech, triumphs over asking questions like ‘why don’t we have free energy?’ when Nicola Tesla discovered the technology about 130 years ago, from 2021.
As a human collective, do you really think the technology that could allow us to live free and fulfilling lives doesn’t exist? Or is it that we need a master? Someone to tell us what we should be doing with our days. Or perhaps the problem is that we don’t know how to imagine.I honestly believe that we still use fossil fuels because some old family needs us to for their profit, and has established the power to ensure we do. Listen, I’m not delusional about what it would take to change the system, nor am I trying to. I’m simply asking the question ‘why do we live like slaves when we have the technology to all live like free beings? Wait, I forget, you think you are free, my mistake.
The perfect environment.
Why are we looking at moving to Mars and other Planets when we can’t even manage earth? What is this disease?
I don’t see myself as the type of person to force what’s good for you down your throat. I believe humans were designed to do whatever the flip they want to do, as long as that doesn’t infringe on the peace and wellbeing of others. Which is my point, are a few sacrificing the lives of the many for profit?
When I talk about the perfect environment, I’m not talking about the kind of paradise we only meet in religious scripture, I’m talking about intelligently designed environments that allow humans to experience the kind of freedom they deserve. The real thing. An environment that takes care of you, not one we defecate for profit because we think we only live once.
Listen, the technology to create a better world exists, I don’t care what the mainstream narrative says. The problem is, our minds find change stressful, and so, we’ll keep following the wind like flags because we’re afraid of being beaten down into submission by the world’s establishments. I’m afraid we will follow them to the wrong end.
I pray for our children. Because if we really are incapable of building better environments, if we really are incapable of planting trees who’s shade we’ll never sit in, we are royally fucked.
As you get up tomorrow to face the world and all the problems it may have thrown at you, perhaps it would be good exercise to think of how we can each make the move towards building better, healthier environments for future generations.
